Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels recently claimed that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady are on texting terms.

Michels told supporters last week that DeSantis was texting Brady during a Green Bay Packers football game last month, according to a recording of the event obtained by the New York Times.

“I took Governor DeSantis to the Packer game at Lambeau Field,” Michels said, according to the outlet. “We’re sitting there, you know, we’re watching the game and all of a sudden, I look over and he’s texting and he says, ‘How do you spell Lambeau?’” (RELATED: Tom Brady Loses His Cool, Smashes Tablet On Sidelines)

“I say, ‘Who are you texting with?’ He says, ‘I’m texting with Tom Brady.’ The governor of Florida gets to text with Tom Brady,” Michels added, according to the outlet.

Brady defended Donald Trump back in 2015, saying, “it’s pretty remarkable what he’s achieved in his life.” Later in 2017, Brady criticized Trump for saying that players who didn’t stand for the national anthem should be fired. Brady called the comments “divisive.”

Tom Brady and his wife of 13 years have recently reportedly hired divorce lawyers. The couple have two children together.
