In a real-life heroic act, Marvel superhero Jeremy Renner was attempting to save his grown nephew from potential injury when he was crushed by his snowplow New Year’s Day, according to a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office report filed Friday.
Renner was pulled under the vehicle while attempting to stop the heavy Pistenbully snowplow from sliding and hitting his adult nephew, CNN reported, citing the sheriff’s office incident report. Renner had towed his nephew’s truck off the driveway after it became stuck in the heavy snowfall occurring at the time. He reportedly told investigators that after towing the truck into the street, the snowplow started “sliding sideways,” and “it began to roll down the hill.”
“The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” according to the report’s conclusion.
“Once [Renner] was off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading directly toward (his nephew),” according to the incident report cited by CNN.

“He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully,” the report continued.
Renner reportedly climbed onto the snowplow’s moving track, apparently in an effort to enter the cab and steer the machine, but he was “immediately pulled under the left side track,” according to CNN.
Police allegedly discovered the break indicator light in the machine’s cab was not working properly, leading investigators to conclude “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident,” according to the outlet.
“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward,” according to the outlet. “When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.” (RELATED: ‘He Is Crushing All The Progress Goals’: Jeremy Renner’s Family Provides Health Update On The Actor)

Renner’s nephew reportedly remained on the scene and assisted the actor until help arrived.
“The Pistenbully rolled over [Renner] and continued down the road,” the report read, according to CNN. “He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene.”
The famous actor sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to the hospital before undergoing a minimum of two surgeries. He remained in the hospital for two weeks and suffered more than 30 broken bones in the incident, according to CNN.
Renner shared bloody selfies from the hospital and announced he is recovering at home in a Twitter post Jan. 16.
