Authorities are investigating the alleged shooting of a child at the home of Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon.

Police were called to the 7900 block of Ayers Road in Anderson Township just before 8:30 p.m. Monday night, NBC News reported, citing the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. A child was allegedly sent to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

It remains unclear whether 26-year-old Mixon was involved in the reported shooting. Neither Mixon nor the Cincinnati Bengals have spoken publicly about the alleged incident at the time of writing.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Mixon’s house “and were able to gather evidence that will be part of this active investigation,” NBC reported.

“Our detectives will continue to review this evidence diligently and conduct interviews,” the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, noting the department is aiming to have an update later in the week, according to NBC.

Police charged Mixon in February after he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman and threatened her, according to WLWT. The charge was later dismissed and the case was reassigned. (RELATED: ‘So Cowardly’: Minnesota Wild Slammed For Being ‘Homophobic’ After Refusing To Wear LGBTQ+ Jerseys)

Mixon rushed for 814 yards and seven touchdowns off of 210 attempts in the Bengals’ 2022 NFL season, with a yards-per-rush average of 3.9, according to ESPN.
