Rapper Cam’ron mocked CNN’s Abby Phillip directly to her face Monday as she asked about footage of a fellow rapper beating his girlfriend in 2016.

Phillip interviewed Cam’ron about his friendship with fellow rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs after surveillance footage showed him kicking and dragging his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hallway of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. Cam’ron derailed as Phillip asked about Combs’ reputation and whether the industry is to blame for his behavior.

“What about the industry in general? I mean, so many people have pointed out that Diddy couldn’t get away with this stuff if there weren’t so many people protecting him. Do you think that’s the case?” she asked.

“Who is the talent agent for this joint? Like, you think I’ll be sit around watching Diddy’s doing all this?” Cam’ron shot back. “I didn’t know this was a Diddy joint that you invited me to. Yo, who booked me for this joint? I smile and I don’t. Cameron Watson, did you know that?”

“Thanks for joining us. Thank you for your time tonight,” the host said.

“Thank you. Thank you for having me. You enjoy,” he said.

Diddy apologized for his behavior in a video posted to his Instagram account, saying he “hit rock bottom” at the time. (RELATED: Diddy Accused Of ‘Savagely’ Beating And Raping His Ex Girlfriend: REPORT)

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” Diddy said in his video. “I was fucked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses,” he said.

Cam’ron On Why He’ll Never Snitch

The footage, from May 17, 2016, showed Combs grabbing the back of Ventura’s neck, throwing her to the floor, and kicking her while clutching the towel wrapped around his waist. He appeared to grab a purse or a suitcase located next to Ventura’s motionless body, before kicking her twice more. He then dragged her by the sweatshirt before releasing her and leaving her on the floor.

Cam’ron – Oh Boy

Cam’ron said during the interview that the “egregious” footage upset him.

Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, which has since been settled for an unspecified amount of money.
