Kevin Costner posted a video to social media Thursday night, announcing that he will not be returning to “Yellowstone.”

The famous actor  confirmed the news after a year and a half of speculation about his involvement, and captioned the post with the words, “an update for you guys.”

“Hi everyone, I just want to reach out after this long year and a half of working on ‘Horizon’ and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about ‘Yellowstone,’ that beloved series that I love, that I know you love,” Costner wrote, as he broke the news to his 1.5 million Instagram followers.

The legendary actor went on to explain his decision to leave the highly successful series.

“I just realize that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5-B or into the future,” Costner said.

He spoke fondly of his experience on set.

“It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you loved it and I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning,” he said.

“And I love the relationship that we’ve been able to develop and I’ll see you at the movies.”

Fans that plan to follow the Dutton family, in spite of Costner’s absence from the series don’t have to wait too long.
