Today is Flag Day in the United States, which commemorates the adoption of the flag. The Second Continental Congress approved the flag in 1777, but Flag Day wasn’t established until 1949.

Even though the U.S. flag is getting up there in age, it shouldn’t be too upset. We may be celebrating its 233rd birthday, but it doesn’t look a day over 229, especially when compared with some of the other world flags.

For example, can you tell the difference between the French, Dutch, and Russian flags? They’re exactly the same, but with the colors switched and lines vertical instead of horizontal. For that matter, Indonesia and Monaco have the exact same flag. Also, the Libya flag is solid green.
