Will Obama stand up to the Hirsute Haulers of America?CNN comes under (Katyusha rocket) fire for firing Mid East anchorWhen is the RNC gonna get its stripper money back?Oaklanders protest light sentence for BART cop by destroying Oakland
DoD uses break-up language with military reportersNow that he has lost his primary, the congressman would like to say a few words

1.) Obama’s quiet protectionism turns around and bites America on the rear — Pres. Barack Obama’s slowness in suspending the Jones Act wasn’t his first protectionist faux pas. “Shortly after taking office,” writes the Wall Street Journal, the president “signed a bill with a provision that effectively bans Mexican trucks from operating inside the U.S. The ban violates the North American Free Trade Act, and prompted Mexico to impose punitive tariffs last year on $2.4 billion in American products—from Christmas trees and potatoes to wine.” Isn’t that great? In the midst of a massive economic downturn, the president caved to what’s left of the trucking unions and said, “How can I best screw America while protecting you and your burly friends?” Obama could reverse the ban all on his own, but that would require him to get off his knees and stand up to the Hirsute Haulers of America.

2.) Hezbollah accuses CNN of “intellectual terrorism” — “Hezbollah’s spokesman Ibrahim Moussawi says CNN’s decision [to fire Octavia Nasr] amounts to ‘intellectual terrorism,'” reports the AP. Nasr left the network after tweeting her condolences for the death of jihad supporter and Hezbollah founding member Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah. Moussawi also claimed that Nasr’s firing “reflects the West’s ‘double standards’ in dealing with the Mideast.” Perhaps Moussawi is angry that captured jihadists end up in military prisons while Russian spies get to go home? Or maybe he is angry about Sex and the City 2: Dry as the Desert? Hell, maybe something got lost in translation? Who knows! Here’s what matters: Western women can date and wear tank-tops in public. Really, this is what we are fighting for, America.

The RNC has not received bondage pay-back from young Republican horn-dog — “In March, when The Daily Caller reported that the Republican National Committee (RNC) had spent $1,946 at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub, RNC spokesman Doug Heye vowed on national television that the RNC would get its money back.” reports The Daily Caller’s Jonathan Strong. “According to FEC reports, the California political operative who initially incurred the nightclub expense on behalf of the RNC, Erik Brown, did not send money to the RNC. Neither did an RNC employee, Allison Meyers, who took young donors to the club, which features topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex acts.” Doug Heye is probably hiding in an abandoned building right now, screaming into a cellular phone, “This is about my money, this is about money DUE ME! Which I WILL collect! WHERE IS MY TWO GRAND!?”

Transit cop who killed unarmed man gets light sentence, crowd goes wild — “A white former transit police officer was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in a videotaped shooting death of an unarmed black man last year in Oakland, California,” reports Reuters, “sparking a wave of looting and destruction in the city on Thursday.” The verdict read to former transit cop Johannes Mehserle was met with 1,000 protestors, followed by looting and over 50 arrests after nightfall. Relatives of the victim, Oscar Grant, the father and grocery story butcher who Mehserle restrained with handcuffs then shot in the back at an Oakland train station, were heartbroken by the verdict. Grant’s supporters honored his memory by giving the police a good reason to shoot them: “Looters targeted stores selling jewelry and beauty supplies and grabbed shoes from a Foot Locker store in downtown Oakland, while the phrase ‘Riot for Oscar’ was spray-painted on a bank building, according to a Reuters eyewitness.”

5.) Rolling Stone writer has ruined military reporting for the whole class — It was bound to happen: Smart young guy rolls with Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s entourage, smart young guy files poison-pen profile, angry old dudes say, “To hell with all this. Why aren’t my undies starched?” Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said yesterday that the DoD’s policy outlining appropriate interactions between military personnel and journalists was being “followed selectively at best.” According to The Daily Caller’s Sonja Elmquist, “The rules require military officers and Pentagon officials to notify the Defense Department public affairs office before talking to reporters, reasserting civilian oversight” of military interactions with the press. “This is not about you,” Gates told a crowd of frowny-faced war reporters. “This is about us.”
Share: 6.) Defeated congressman breaks 12-year silence, complains about the people who put him in office — “While not naming names, 12-year incumbent Rep. Bob Inglis suggested in interviews with The Associated Press that tea party favorites such as former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and right-wing talk show hosts like Glenn Beck are the culprits,” reports the AP. The culprits of what, exactly? Why, of Inglis losing his primary! This is what happens, America. First the pols court you, and then they cold-cock you. Stay vigilant!
