Comedian Kathy Griffin has made no secret of her distaste for Palin’s family — she’s called “Dancing With the Stars” finalist Bristol fat, baby Trig a “retard” and said 2011 was 16-year-old Willow’s “year to go down.”
But Bristol Palin wasn’t offended when Griffin joked at last year’s USO Diva’s Salute event, “[Bristol Palin] is the only contestant in the history of [“Dancing with the Stars”] to actually gain weight … She gained, like, 30 pounds a week. I swear to God, it was fantastic. She’s like the white ‘Precious.'”
Bristol told E! Online Tuesday that Griffin hasn’t gotten to her.
“It didn’t [hurt my feelings] because it was coming from Kathy Griffin of all people, and I think it just shows her immaturity,” Palin said. “I don’t think that stuff’s funny at all. Just very strange.”
Bristol addressed that Griffin has repeatedly poked fun at the family, and she finds this odd.
“She has a weird hate for our family, just like her coming to Alaska and knocking on our front door. And it’s weird, also, that she would pick on my weight. She’s had botched liposuction procedures and stuff like that, so … It’s just weird that she would pick on something like that for another woman … I think she would just not be an enjoyable individual to be around at all.”
In the unlikely event that Griffin were to make an apology, Bristol would accept it.
“She’s never going to, but yes, I would accept it,” Bristol said.
Earlier this year, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Griffin said 2011 would be her year “to offend a new Palin,” that Palin being teenage Willow, who had recently come under fire for using slurs “gay” and “faggot” in a Facebook feud.
“I think it’s Willow’s year to go down,” Griffin said. “She’s called people a ‘faggot’ on Facebook a couple of times. You don’t throw around the f-word without hearing from me about it.”
Trig Palin, who has Downs Syndrome, was the first of the Palin kids to be blasted by Griffin. In 2009, Griffin justified calling Trig a “retard baby” via her Twitter account:
“When I say her ‘retarded baby,’ I am quoting HER! Sarah Palin said it about her youngest! Jeez, don’t you guys watch ‘The Insider’? XO, K.”
