Perry has big fans in Arkansas

Font Size:

Twenty Arkansas legislators are urging the Texas governor to run for president.

In a letter to Gov. Rick Perry, those Republican members of the Arkansas House encouraged the Texas governor to enter the race.

“Your country needs you now,” they proclaimed, explaining that his Texas record is unmatched by any other candidate or governor because of his economic policies, limited regulation, and the free market advocacy.

“Texas leads the country in job growth, even in these trying economic times,” they continued. “We suspect the rest of the country will be amazed to learn that under your leadership, Texas has created 45% of the net new jobs since the summer of 2009.”

According to the twenty, there is nobody better to receive the nomination.

“Of the current slate of Republican candidates, both announced and those currently exploring, we do not believe there is one who can better unify our party and take the fight to the Democrats on their old, outdated ideas,” they wrote. (UNDER CONSIDERATION: Gov. Perry talks the presidency)

They concluded by offering their assistance to his campaign in “any way necessary.”

Perry has given indications that he is seriously considering a run.

Dear Gov. Perry,

It is with great enthusiasm that we write you, our neighbor to the southwest. Like most Americans, we are concerned about the future of our country at this most crucial time. The federal government’s staggering debt piled up by President Barack Obama and his willing accomplices in Washington have put the United States on the fast track to financial ruin. The Administration’s unconstitutional health-care take-over promises to destroy what has been the world’s best healthcare system, and there is so much more. We appreciate that you have, for some time now, correctly articulated many of the ways Washington has harmed our nation. These actions have increasingly caused our country’s citizens to be “fed up” with this Administration’s current trajectory of increasing big government and federal intrusion into our daily lives.

As Republicans, we need to stand fast and insist that our standard-bearer in the 2012 Presidential race not only make the case against four more years of Barack Obama in the White House, but also is someone who has a vision of hope and prosperity that will help every American to succeed. Of the current slate of Republican candidates, both announced and those currently exploring, we do not believe there is one who can better unify our party and take the fight to the Democrats on their old, outdated ideas. This is why we write you today.

Gov. Perry, your country needs you now. We stand ready to support you and ask that you become a candidate to be our nation’s next President. Your record of executive achievement in Texas is unmatched. We know that because of your economic policies of low taxation, limited business regulation, and the empowering of the free market, Texas leads the country in job growth, even in these trying economic times. We suspect the rest of the country will be amazed to learn that under your leadership, Texas has created 45% of the net new jobs since the summer of 2009. You have also dealt with budget deficits through fiscal responsibility, by not increasing taxes but by reducing spending. We desperately need your vision, expertise and proven conservatism in the White House.

We, the undersigned encourage your run for the White House and stand ready to assist you in any way necessary. Please do not hesitate to call upon us.

Sincerely,
