Abby Huntsman, the daughter of former Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman, tells The Daily Caller that she was kidding when she appeared to accept an invitation from Current TV host Jennifer Granholm to join the Democratic Party during a television appearance on Tuesday night.

“That was just fun back and forth banter with Governor Granholm,” she told TheDC on Wednesday. “I’ve always been a Republican, but like many Americans right now, I feel without a home this election cycle.”

Appearing on the liberal network Tuesday night, Huntsman laughed and said, “I will join you there,” when Granholm suggested she and other “independent and moderate Republicans” join the Democratic Party.

In an email to TheDC, Huntsman said neither of the two major party candidates have “come forward with a clear direction or vision for the future around the economy, spending/debt, and foreign policy.” (VIDEO: Abby Huntsman denounces GOP)

“I’m still unsure who I will end up voting for,” she said. “Who knows, I might end up just writing my dad’s name in.”
