An update on my knee, for the people who still care about that

If you don’t know what happened to me, read this and this and this. That’ll get you caught up.

Okay, yeah, so here’s a picture of my crummy, pale, disfigured knee as of this afternoon:

The scar is a couple of years old now, but the band-aid is new. That’s where my surgeon gave me a cortisone injection this afternoon. He said he’d been holding off doing that until he was sure I was completely healed, but after looking at my x-rays, he said I’m ready. The cortisone is supposed to help with the stiffness and swelling. (Of my knee. Get your mind out of the gutter.) I think it’s supposed to take a couple of days to kick in, but it feels a little better already. Definitely feels different. Probably psychosomatic?

I’m also going to be starting up physical therapy again, which I did for a few months after each of my two surgeries. The doc said he wants to start getting “greedy.” Not in terms of money, but in terms of showing this knee who’s boss. We’ve taken it this far, and now he wants me to start pushing myself to get my left leg as strong as possible. So I’m going to give that a go and see him again in a few months.

As for the legal aspect of the whole thing, it’s ongoing. It has not been forgotten, and it’s certainly not forgiven. My lawyer says he expects something to happen this year. Which is relatively fast, probably, considering this is the government we’re talking about. Mostly I just try not to think about it, because there’s nothing I can do to speed it up. I’m the little guy. Well, relatively speaking.

Thank you for reading the stuff I just typed about my problems. You may now complain about having been forced to read it.
