In an interview with The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas, Andrew C. McCarthy, the former assistant United States attorney who successfully led the prosecutions of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers, gave his opinions on the Arab spring and assessed the handling of it by the Obama Administration.
“It is successive American administrations that have refused to grapple with Islamist ideology — or Islamic supremacism, is probably the best way of putting it. They’ve had various reasons for that — I think some of them well-intentioned, some of them not so well-intentioned — but it’s basically been verboten to talk about what it is that inspires our enemies and to acknowledge the fact that there is an unavoidable nexus between Islamic doctrine and terrorism committed by Muslims.”
“What the Arab Spring really is, is an ascendancy of Islamic supremacism, and had we been more engaged in what our enemies think and believe over the last 20 years, that would be a surprise to exactly nobody”
