On his Wednesday radio program, conservative talk show host Mark Levin expressed his frustration with Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, the Republican Party’s 2012 vice-presidential nominee.
Levin argued Congress’ was neglecting its duty to protect the nation’s borders.
“Folks, we have people in Washington, D.C. who refuse to protect this country,” Levin said. “They can talk about this data-mining all they want. But the fact of the matter –the fact of the matter — is we have people crossing our borders that do not wish us well.”
The talk-show host then turned his fire on Ryan, who is known primarily as a budget hawk.
“Now, I expect this from [Chuck] Schumer,” he said. “I expect this from [Harry] Reid and [Nancy] Pelosi. These people despise America, which is why they want to fundamentally transform it. If you love America, you want to preserve it. If you hate it, you want to fundamentally transform it. So that’s the party of fundamental transformation. But let me tell you something: I invited Paul Ryan on this program about an hour or two ago and his spokesman or whomever wrote us back and said he’s not available tonight. They didn’t say he is available tomorrow or the next day or next week, he’s just not available.”
“Now why won’t Paul Ryan come on this program or others, who I am going to start inviting — Republicans, so-called conservatives — on the air?” he asked. “And if his staff is listening, come on tomorrow. I’ll tell you why they won’t come on — because I’ve had enough of this crap. If the Republicans wanted to stop this, it would be stopped. But they don’t want to stop it.
Later, Levin brought up a series of tweets by CNBC Washington correspondent John Harwood, who conveyed Ryan’s confidence in the House’s passage of its own immigration reform legislation..

“Isn’t it hilarious that politicians tell you that what they’re doing has nothing to do with politics?” he said. “That’s what they all say. ‘Hey, I’m not in this for politics. I’m in this for the country.’ Oh I see. Law, security, economic growth — well you’re certainly not in it for the law, Congressman Ryan, because this is lawless. You’re certainly not in it for security — isn’t he chairman of the Budget Committee, Mr. Producer, in the House?”
“He’s chairman of the Budget Committee in the House,” Levin continued. “So concerned is the congressman about border security that I am sure he has proposed a bill, a stand-alone funding bill, and he’s jumped up and down about it and he’s said, ‘Secure our border, Mr. President. Secure the border. I’m concerned about national security and law and order. Secure the border. It’s been a promise we made to the American people for the last 27 years since the 1986 amnesty bill. It’s time to do it, Mr. President. You slashed spending on it in 2009. I’m the chairman of the House Budget Committee. Let’s get it done.’ Has anyone heard this? No. No you haven’t.”
