The cast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” mocked Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz’s ongoing speech on the Senate floor Wednesday morning, which the Texas Republican had delivered all night in order to protest the funding of President Obama’s health care law.

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough explained his disapproval, calling the labors of Cruz and his fellow Republican Sens. Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Jeff Sessions, Mike Enzi, James Inhofe, David Vitter and Marco Rubio a “phony fight.”

“If you don’t stand with him on this filibuster, which by the way most Republicans don’t, because if most Republicans did, this wouldn’t be a phony filibuster,” Scarborough said. “Since the Wall Street Journal has said this is a phony fight, since Scott Walker said this is a phony fight, and since Charles Krauthammer has said this is a phony fight, since Paul Ryan has said this is a phony fight, since the House of Representatives — the Republicans over there — that everybody says these are right-wing nuts. Suddenly, everybody has said these House Republicans are right-wing nuts. Now suddenly they’re Neville Chamberlain according to Ted Cruz. It really is just so preposterous.”

Scarborough’s co-host Mika Brzezinski and four other guests tended to agree with that sentiment.

“This is just phony,” Scarborough said. “This isn’t even inspiring narcissism. Churchill was a narcissist. But this is just pretend. He could be doing this in his closet, and it would have the same exact effect on America.”
