In dramatic footage from al-Ekhbaria TV in Syria, a news anchor — identified as a “Mr Shuiab” — was conducting a live interview when the first of two suicide car bombs detonated outside of the al-Ekhbaria TV compound on Ummayed Square. The anchor stays on the air and continues to conduct the interview before the building is rocked by the concussion of the second, much larger blast. At that point, the interview is terminated and the anchor quickly moves from the studio.

This is not the first time that the Syrian state TV station has been the target of attacks. Last year an explosive device was detonated inside al-Ekhbaria’s headquarters killing several employees. Al-Ekhbaria has also had an office on the outskirts of Damascus completely destroyed by Syrian rebel forces
