With the battery of his motorized scooter depleted, 67 year-old Vietnam veteran Gilbert LaRocque found himself stranded on the side of the highway over Memorial weekend.

Thankfully, Eric Cooper and Milo Shields, two San Diego police officers, showed up.

They pushed LaRocque and his 300 pound scooter to his home about a mile away.

“Being a veteran myself, I was gracious for his service to our country. The least I could do was push him,” said Shields, according to NBC San Diego.

Cooper, who is also a veteran, told the station “I look at it as if it was my dad on the side of the road I would hope anybody else would stop and do a good thing for the guy.”
