Could Your Dog Win The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest?

The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest has returned! This contest has been going on for 25 years and celebrates the dogs whose beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

The dogs must be healthy and “naturally” ugly, and they are judged for first impressions, unique features, audience reaction and personality, according to Today. It takes place on Friday in Petaluma, Calif., and the winner will receive $1,500 in cash.

The contest sounds mean, but it’s all in good fun.

“The annual World’s Ugliest Dog Contest is not about making fun of ugly dogs,” according to a press release from the organizers, “but having fun with some wonderful characters and showing the world that these dogs are really beautiful.”

Check out this year’s contestants and vote for who you think should be the winner!
