A woman in Albuquerque, N.M. was arrested on Wednesday because, police say, she attempted to poison her roommates’ food and water after they busted her having sex with their two German shepherds.

The woman is Shari Walters, reports Albuquerque ABC affiliate KOAT.

The bizarre episode began two weeks ago, according to the criminal complaint, when one of her two roommates called the local sheriff to report that she and her brother, the other roommate, had been poisoned.

The two roomies are Beverly Bradley and her unnamed brother.

Bradley told sheriff’s deputies that she had discovered Walters, 53, inside a shed on their property in Albuquerque earlier that day. Walters was nude. Also, she was having sex with a German shepherd named Spike.

After getting busted in flagrante delicto with the dog, Walters, who was dating Bradley’s brother, confessed that the act wasn’t her first rodeo with the canine. She had, in fact, had sex with both of the Bradley dogs.

Bradley’s brother decided it was time to break up with Walters “because she was having sex with dogs,” according to the complaint.

The boyfriend claimed that Walters also told him she had been enjoying sex with dogs ever since she was 14 years old, notes the Albuquerque Journal. By The Daily Caller’s math, then, Walters had her first forbidden canine encounter sometime during the Ford administration.

The poisoning allegedly occurred that night when Bradley and her brother noticed that their food tasted odd. They said their water was foggy, too, but that didn’t stop them from drinking it.

Bradley said Walters attacked her after asking “Aren’t you going to eat?” Then, Walters owned up to putting toilet bowl cleaner in her roommates’ food and rubbing alcohol in their food.

Bradley explained that Walters said she was angry over the breakup.

Everything has turned out basically alright for Bradley, her brother and the two dogs.

Bradley’s brother, who was worried that the dogs might have contracted diseases he knew Walters had, took them to be examined by a veterinarian.

The vet said the animals suffered only minor injuries. One of the dogs exhibited “unusual symptoms,” the vet said, according to the complaint. Those symptoms could have been the result of sexual abuse. However, the vet added that Walters couldn’t communicate whatever diseases she may have to the dogs.

Bradley and her brother received medical treatment for the ingestion of toilet bowl cleaner and rubbing alcohol. They appear to be doing fine.

As for Walters, she faces three criminal charges: cruelty or extreme cruelty to animals, aggravated battery and assault with intent to commit a violent felony. Sheriff’s deputies took her to the local jail, where she remained in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Sheriff’s deputies also sent Walters to the University of New Mexico Hospital for an assessment of her mental health, notes the Albuquerque Journal.

Stories about women across America who have sex with dogs are rare, but they do happen. In May of 2013, a behavioral specialist with the Harford County, Md. school district who worked mainly with special needs children was indicted for “sexual intercourse with a dog.”

The shocking evidence against the woman, then-45-year-old Stephanie Mikles , included still photos. (RELATED: Cops Say They Have Photos Of Maryland Teacher Doing It With Family Dog)

As of the time of the indictment, the canine still lived with the teacher’s family in her home.
