During a taped interview that aired Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Dana Bash asked Governor and 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Scott Walker if he thought “being gay was a choice.”

Walker — who was traveling between campaign stops in Iowa — said that “I think that this isn’t an issue I need to be involved in. The bottom line is that I’m going to stand up and work hard for every American, regardless of who they are, no matter where they come from, no matter their background. I’m going to fight for people, no matter if they vote for me or not.”

Bash followed up, “To act on behalf of people, to do that properly, you have to understand, have an opinion on who they are and where they’re coming from.”

“I don’t have an opinion on every single issue out there. I don’t know, I don’t know the answer to that question. I don’t know what the answer to that is. I’m going to spend my time focused on things I can work on.”
