The Daily Caller’s Biggest Fan Leaves Salon

Democratic pundit Joan Walsh is such joy to mankind.

Well, not really. But the big news is that she’s leaving Salon — finally! — to head over to The Nation with one of The Mirror‘s favorites, Ben Dreyfuss, and Katrina vanden Heuvel.

You’ll still see her lovely mug on MSNBC.

But as Joan puts it, she wants more of a “long view” of things.

Seems like kind of a dig at an outlet that was her home since 1998. And actually, they do take a long view of sorts, as evidenced in a story of a pedophile, who explains how his attraction to small children does not make him a monster. (Feel sorry for him — he was born without his right hand. Or actually, be thankful he never had a right hand.)

Among my favorite details in that story is the topics Salon chose to file it under, which included “Virtuous Pedophiles” and Non-offending Pedophiles.” Why wouldn’t Joan want to work for a pub like that?

The Daily Caller admittedly hasn’t had the warmest relationship with Joan. In 2014, I called her a “general Hardball ass kisser” and made fun of her for trying to publicly call out Politico columnist Roger Simon for being factually incorrect when actually she was in the wrong.

We’ll be on the lookout for Joan’s deeper thoughts at The Nation.
