Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina pledged that, if elected, she would submit a balanced budget in her first term while being interviewed on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday.

Additionally, Fiorina told Mark Halperin that a good place to start would be by “rolling back the EPA regulations … that are crushing industries.”

MARK HALPERIN: Would you pledge to submit a balanced budget in your first term?

FIORINA: Yes, and I think one of the keys to submitting a balanced budget — and good morning Mark — is starting by knowing where the money is being spent … Have you ever noticed how the federal government spends more money and never has enough to do the important things? …

HALPERIN: Can you just name one thing you would cut that’s significant in size?

FIORINA: There’s loads of things I would cut. Let’s look at the Department of Education for one. I know it’s a favorite, but let’s face it. The Department of Education has spent more money every year for 40 years — under Republicans and Democrats alike — and the quality of education in this country has continued to deteriorate. Let’s just start there, or let’s start by rolling back the EPA regulations that a bureaucracy — elected and accountable to no one — have rolled out that are crushing industries, destroying industries. Let’s just start with those two.
