In a recent column for CNN, liberal activist and commentator Sally Kohn bemoaned how “10,000 kids die because of guns every single year” in America, “and we can’t pass even the most measly common sense safety laws[.]”
We regulate toys that harm a few children but refuse to regulate guns that kill 10,000 kids per year? My latest: https://t.co/XGoSt9lbTM

Kohn sourced CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield with providing the stat, but she probably shouldn’t have taken it at face value.
According to Blaze contributor — and former NYPD officer — John Cardillo, the number of children (under 18 years of age) killed by firearms is significantly lower than the figure Kohn provided.
(1) @CNN, @SallyKohn lied. 2014 FBI Stats 11,961 total homicides. Only 1,085 victims under 18. Not 10,000 by gun. pic.twitter.com/OoUW4ra5AE

(2) @CNN, @SallyKohn's lie was in fact egregious. FBI-Only 8,124 gun deaths total in US in 2014. 90+% adult victims. https://t.co/8nE32HVWFg

Additionally, Cardillo disproved Kohn’s claim that the majority of child gun deaths are “accidental,” where in reality “about 95% are crime related.”
.@CNN, @SallyKohn was also dishonest implying that <18 gun deaths are accidental. About 95% are crime related among teens w/illegal guns.

.@sallykohn @CNN here's some more data. CDC 2013 – Gun suicides under 18: 900. Accidental gun deaths under 18: 72. https://t.co/phSmnTCwu6
