Talk radio host Mark Levin said Donald Trump was bringing up “stupid issues” to attack Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore], citing the mogul’s “New York values” response and questioning Cruz’s eligibility to be president.

Monday on “The Mark Levin Show,” Levin said, “I’m all in favor of duking it out, I want them to duke it out. But I want them to duke it out in a way that helps We the People.”

“If we do not nominate a solid, principled conservative to try to undo some of this, we are going to lose our country. It’s that simple,” Levin argued. (RELATED: Trump: ‘I’d Do The Public A Big Favor’ By Suing Ted Cruz Over Eligibility To Be President )

“Some of you over the years, you’ve told me it’s already lost. You’ve posted on my Facebook and Twitter sites, you’ve called in here, ‘There’s nothing we can do.’ This is why I’m sick and tired of stupid talk. This is why I’m sick and tired of stupid issues. I didn’t spend 40 years of my life, 45 to be exact to reach a point where we actually might take back the White House with somebody who is conservative — whomever that is — to be discussing birther issues and fake issues.” (RELATED: Trump: Cruz’s Birth Status ‘A Problem For Him’ )

Critical of where the political debate is headed, Levin called for less attention on the “debates that are mindless, that are useless, that are not going to save this republic” and called for more focus on teh debt, judges, and the military.

Levin said he will call people out who discuss those “nonsense issues.”

“It’s that simple. It’s that simple. This birth nonsense has gone on long enough for most of us. If there are websites that want to keep entertaining it, entertain it. If there are nut-job lawyers and professors who want to bring the lawsuits, I beg you. Bring the lawsuits. But the rest of us don’t have to be dragged into stupidity,” Levin said.

“The rest of us don’t have to be dragged into stupidity as if a criticism of New York values is an attack on the NYPD or the FDNY, nobody believes that,” he argued. “Do you know how many liberal A-holes there are in New York City? And by the way in every city, destroying those cities, destroying the police departments. So now, so now we’re suppose to believe that it’s an issue of 9/11. I cringe when people bring that up. Because now we actually have Republicans and conservatives using 9/11 like liberals use 9/11. And so we’re suppose to debate that for the next twenty days. Not me. No way.” (RELATED: Trump Stuns Cruz Into Silence During ‘New York Values’ Fight )

“I want to make it clear, when Trump was under attack by the morons in the establishment, I defended him, I didn’t defend everything he said and I’m never going to. I’m never going to defend everything that man’s done, every contribution he’s made, everything he’s said or I wouldn’t be a conservative now would I? It’s he who has evolved or transitioned, he says. So that’s worth looking at,” Levin insisted. (RELATED: Trump: ‘Everybody Hates Ted’ )

He later said “that the attack on Cruz in many ways, is an attack on us. That’s the problem. ‘He’s nasty, nasty, nasty,’ Donald says. Why? Because [crscore]Mitch McConnell[/crscore] thinks he’s nasty? Because Bob Dole thinks he nasty? Because the dug-in, ruling elite Republicans think he’s nasty? Now we’re all suppose to genuflect and say, ‘Yeah, he’s nasty. That’s right! We don’t like Cruz. He doesn’t get along with anybody.'” (RELATED: Trump: Ted Cruz Is ‘A Nasty Guy’ )

“Ladies and gentlemen, you’re attacking yourself. I don’t care who you like. It doesn’t even make any sense. So all of a sudden, what we thought was courage, what we thought was ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,’ you and I are suppose to believe that his guy is bought off by the banks, they guy is nasty, this guy doesn’t get along with anybody, screw him. Is that what we are suppose to do,” Levin wondered out-loud.

“I’m all in favor of duking it out, I want them to duke it out,” Levin said. “But I want them to duke it out in a way that helps we the people. This election isn’t about Ted Cruz, it’s not about Donald Trump, it’s not about [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore]. Let’s face it they all have massive egos, bigger than any of the rest of us because none of us run for president. This election is about the future of this republic. It’s about your children and grandchildren.” (RELATED: Rush: It’s A ‘Strategic Error’ For Trump To Criticize Cruz )
