Republican 2016 hopeful Sen. [crscore]Rand Paul[/crscore] said he’s looking forward to taking back a place on the main stage at the upcoming Thursday Fox debate and isn’t worried about retaining his Senate seat during a call with reporters Tuesday evening
When asked if he is worried about Jim Gary, the Democratic mayor challenging him for his seat in the upper chamber, the Kentucky senator said he thinks he was elected due to his conservative values, adding he has given the state a greater voice by discussing issues on the national stage. “I think that will be rewarded in Kentucky as the election goes forward,” he said.
He plans to exceed expectations in the Iowa Caucuses, and believes the polls “could mean nothing” and poll numbers could be off by as much as 15 points.
The politician said his ground game is strong and around 100 young men and women have made over 750,000 calls ahead of the Feb. 1 caucuses.
Paul also believes he’s the only true conservative that will take the stage – citing his rivals can’t be truly conservative with their support of “liberal” military spending.
The senator attacked Republican candidate Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore], saying he’s going to face problems with the liberty movement questioning his authenticity. He also went after Cruz for his support of the NSA collecting cell phone data.
The Fox News Republican debate will take place Jan. 28 at 9 p.m. EST.
