Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that he is endorsing Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore], making him the most senior political figure to endorse the Texas senator.

Abbott made the announcement in the form of video and will be joining Cruz at a Houston event later Tuesday.

“It is our duty as Texas conservatives to support a leader we can trust to restore our values, that’s why I’m supporting Ted Cruz for president,” said Abbott.

He added, “Unlike far too many in Washington, the Ted Cruz we’ve seen in the Senate is the same Ted Cruz we elected.”
