Streets surrounding the United States Capitol complex have been locked down for the second day in a row.

Witnesses tell Reuters that a bomb squad arrived on scene to investigate a “suspicious package.”
The Capitol Police confirmed the existence of two packages in a statement:

The U.S. Capitol Police is currently investigating two unattended packages. There is an unattended package located on the west side of First Street at the corner of First Street and East Capitol Street. We are also investigating a second unattended package on the North Side Plaza of the Jefferson Building.
The north screening facility of the Capitol Visitor Center is closed pending an investigation. The south screening facility of the Capitol Visitor Center remains open. There is no impact the the U.S. Capitol building. the street closures in effect for both packages are:
First Street from Independence East Capitol Street from First Street to Second Street.
On Monday, the Capitol was locked down after an individual reportedly displayed a gun while going through security at the Capitol Visitor Center. (RELATED: Capitol Visitors Recount Being Evacuated During Active Shooter Situation)
