Hillary Clinton Ekes Out A Win In Connecticut Over Bernie Sanders

According to the Associated Press, Hillary Clinton is set to defeat Bernie Sanders the Democratic primary in Connecticut.

With 99 percent reporting, Clinton received 51.7 percent and Sanders received 46.5 percent of the vote.

Heading into Tuesday’s primary in Connecticut, Clinton led by an average of 5.6 percent according to the Real Clear Politics polling average. A PPP poll from April 22-34 had Clinton only up by only two points. (RELATED: Republican Primary Results)

After the polls closed at 8:00 p.m. EST, it took over two and a half hours for the AP to call the race in for the Democrats.

Fifty five delegates are at stake in Connecticut.

Prior to the polls closing, Joel Benenson, Clinton’s senior campaign strategist told Rachel Maddow on MSNBC that the campaign thought Connecticut would be “very close.”
