The Senate’s top judicial authority expressed full confidence in Donald Trump’s ability to pick the right Supreme Court Justices if elected president.

Iowa Republican Senator and Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley told The Des Moines Register that Trump could pick the “right type of people” for the highest court in the land. The interview, published late Wednesday, comes after Trump’s two remaining opponents dropped out of the race.

“Based upon the type of people he’d be looking for, I think I would expect the right type of people to be nominated by him to the Supreme Court,” Grassley said about Trump.

Grassley pointed to Trump saying he would want justices like 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Judge William Pryor, who former President George W. Bush appointed, as the kind of person he would nominate. Grassley said that’s a good sign.

The comments suggest a change in tone since late April, when Grassley told Iowa radio station KNIA/KRLS that there would be more uncertainty with a Trump presidency than with a Sen. Ted Cruz presidency in their nominations.

“I would have to admit it’s a gamble,” Grassley told the station.

Some have urged the Senate to confirm President Barack Obama’s appointee, Judge Merrick Garland, before the election, arguing that Trump has no chance of winning anyway.

“Yeah, a Democrat could be elected and appoint somebody that would turn the court to the left more,” Grassley told The Des Moines Register. “But Garland would do the same thing.”
