WASHINGTON — Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] filed paperwork Wednesday to run for re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2018. The suspension of his presidential campaign, reactivated his campaign committee, Ted Cruz for Senate.

“Heidi and I feel incredibly privileged to have made the run for president and be part of an incredible grassroots movement,” Cruz said. “I will continue fighting for jobs, freedom, and security in the Senate for 27 million Texans and all Americans across this great country. The conservative movement remains strong and vibrant. When conservatives are united, we are far more effective.”

On Monday, Cruz told reporters he was not interested in a third party run against presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and would only consider to re-enter the race if there was a viable path to victory for him.

In the meantime, Cruz is holding on to his delegates, while his allies and former presidential campaign operatives at the GOP convention prepare to battle to put forth his own agenda through the party platform and rules committees.
