A Florida woman was arrested Monday after police say she beat up her boyfriend using the couple’s own baby.

Tatyana Allen, an 18-year-old from Daytona Beach, got in a fight with her boyfriend at about 4:30 in the afternoon while both of them were on the Daytona Beach boardwalk, and the dispute soon escalated to physical violence. At first, Allen punched her boyfriend several times in the face. But then, police say, she picked up her six-month-old baby boy and used him as a weapon, attempting to bash her boyfriend (the baby’s father) with him.

Allen swung her child “like a bat,” and was “extremely rough” with him, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal. Eventually, she dropped the baby facedown into a pile of sand, where he was then picked up by the boyfriend. Witnesses also told investigators that the baby hit his head on a railing while Allen was carrying him.

The baby was taken to the hospital after the fight ended and police had arrived. Fortunately, he appeared to suffer no permanent injury.

Allen told investigators that she was upset because her boyfriend abused her in the past and shoved her earlier that day when she wanted him to accompany her to the bathroom and he refused.

Allen isn’t just facing battery charges for attacking her boyfriend because of her choice of weapons, but will also be charged with inflicting physical injury on a child. (RELATED: Florida Man Changes Name To Bruce Jenner, Since Caitlyn Isn’t Using It Now)
