Taylor Swift was dismissed from jury duty selection because she said she couldn’t be impartial in a sexual assault case.
As earlier reported, the 26-year-old singer was noticeably absent from the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night because she was summoned to report for jury duty selection at a Nashville courthouse at 8 a.m. Monday.
Swift was later dismissed as a prospective juror from the case that involved an aggravated rape and kidnapping
“Taylor was being questioned about possible bias in a case involving a man who allegedly penetrated a woman with a broom handle after holding her at bay,” TMZ reported Monday.
“The singer told the judge she has a case in Colorado in which a DJ allegedly fondled herbackstage during a concert, so she didn’t think she could be impartial.”
Last fall, Swift filed a lawsuit against a Denver radio DJ who lifted up her skirt and grabbed her butt during a meet-and-greet in 2013.
David Mueller was fired from his job after the incident, but he filed a lawsuit in September 2015 because he claims he was falsely accused by Swift’s security team and never touched her.
“Ms. Swift knows exactly who committed the assault — it was Mueller — and she is not confused in the slightest about whether her long-term business acquaintance, Mr. Haskell, was the culprit,” Swift said in court documents. (RELATED: Taylor Swift Files Big Lawsuit Against Handsy Radio DJ)
