In September of 2015, the Clinton Campaign was worried about a surrogate’s mental health.
John Podesta‘s Chief of Staff Sara Latham wrote an email expressing her concerns about the employee. As revealed in the Wikileaks dump, she said she met secretly with Michelle Kwan — yes, the champion figure skater who is also the campaign’s outreach coordinator — to discuss.
The Mirror is purposefully bleaching out the staffer’s name.
“I met secretly with Michelle Kwan yesterday, she’s genuinely worried about BLANK’s mental health and her likely reaction to the news. Michelle admitted she’d saved a few emails/incidents on her gmail, in the event she needed to speak to HR down the road. It was good to hear her viewpoint first hand, this team have been suffering for quite some time. That said, I think Robby [Mook], Beth Jones (and Huma [Abedin], if she can dial-in) should do the meeting, rather than Heather, out of respect for BLANK, her loyalty to HRC, and so she understands this is a united leadership decision.”
(Beth Jones is the Chief Operating Officer. Abedin is Clinton’s longtime aide and Anthony Weiner‘s future ex-wife.)
“Adrienne and I are working on an operational staffing plan this weekend, outlining who does what on the team and how it should function going forward. Bernie’s celeb-endorsement release yesterday, and BLANK’s talker email which incorrectly alerted our list to HRC‘s Meet the Press instead of Face the Nation appearance are 2 painful examples of how expeditious we should be to right this ship!”
Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, wrote, “Adding Beth. I was advised by counsel not to do it so I defer to them.”
The staffer in question is no longer working in the position she once was.
