President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have decided to stick around Washington since moving out of the White House, and they don’t seem to be leaving the capital anytime soon.
The former president and first lady decided to lease a 8,200-square-foot Tudor-style home in a North West D.C. neighborhood after leaving the White and they just bought it for a whopping $8.1 million. (RELATED: Take A Look At The Swanky DC Mansion Where The Obamas Are Living)
The Obama’s planned to rent the house until their younger daughter, Sasha, graduated high school. But now, President Obama’s spokesman said that it “made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property” since they will be here for “at least another two and a half years.”
While the Obamas’ decision to stick around Washington is understandable, many have been surprised by the sky-high price tag that’s comparable to the homes of Hollywood’s hottest stars.
