It’s roughly three weeks before Christmas, but the presents are rolling in early at The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Scotland-based BrewDog Brewery sent TheDCNF four of the new beers coming out of its brand new facility in Columbus, Ohio.

TheDCNF had the opportunity to exclusively interview BrewDog co-founder James Watt in April 2017 about the brewery’s expansion into the U.S. Watt and his co-founder Martin Dickie have spent the past decade building BrewDog into the fastest-growing food and drinks producer and the fastest-growing bar and restaurant operator in the U.K. Check out their story.

The new brewery is supposed to help mitigate the problems BrewDog has had getting their signature beers from Scotland to the U.S. and keeping the beer fresh in America.

Watt told TheDCNF in April that he plans to use the Columbus location mainly to bring BrewDog’s U.K. beers to American consumers. “About 90 percent of the beers we are going to make in Columbus will be the same we make in the U.K.,” Watt explained. “10 percent of the portfolio will be unique to Columbus.”

The new facility is already up and running, pumping out a variety of BrewDog favorites. The DCNF tried the beers named “Elvis Juice,” “Hazy Jane,” “Punk IPA,” and “Jet Black Heart.”

Here is our review:

Elvis Juice

I’ve never had a better fruity IPA — grapefruit or otherwise — than BrewDog’s “Elvis Juice” IPA.

BrewDog’s brewmasters couldn’t possibly pack more of a citrus punch into the beer. The small, yet powerful, addition of aromatic hops works to accentuate the fruity flavors.

Tones of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice envelopes the taste buds. The back of the tongue captures the fruity bitterness of a glass of grapefruit juice, however, the malt helps soothe the bite with caramel overtones.

Weighing in at 6.5 percent alcohol, Elvis Juice will leave you feeling great.

Hazy Jane

Hazy Jane is a hat tip to the IPAs of the New England, a genre known for being unfiltered and hopped-up to the max.

BrewDog reportedly spent months making Hazy Jane the perfect Vermont-style IPA, that the brewery says is incontrovertibly the beer style of 2017.

The first thing of note about Hazy Jane is the fruitiness. Where that fruity taste is coming from and what fruit you are tasting are still unknowns to TheDCNF, but we sure do love it.

Like most of its unfiltered brethren, Hazy Jane looks gorgeous when poured. The body is light orange and opaque and the head is thin, yet pronounced.

BrewDog got Hazy Jane to pack a punch at 7.2 percent alcohol.

The brewmasters used five different American hops to bring out one of the finer hoppy flavors the U.S. has to offer.

Hazy Jane is one for a Friday afternoon on a porch in the sunlight.

Punk IPA

BrewDog’s “Punk IPA” is a beer that defines the brewery in a nutshell. With a rebellious name and bold flavor, Punk IPA shows just how outside the mainstream brewing culture BrewDog really is and they want to keep it that way.

Punk IPA drinks like a glass of alcoholic, hoppy fruit juice. The beer brings out grapefruit, pineapple and a host of other fruits at the first sip.

Not far behind those fruity tones lies a hoppy finish. The brewery wants you to have a drinkable experience with Punk IPA, but is not going to deprive you of the hoppy flavor you deserve.

Punk IPA is a staple of BrewDog and one you probably know if the brewery is familiar with you.

Jet Black Heart

The name is amazing and describes the jet black brew inside the can.

The first thing one notices is how smooth Jet Black Heart drinks. One isn’t really sure if they are enjoying a nice, flat cup of coffee with some chocolate or a beer.

Brewed with flaked oats, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a bit of love, Jet Black Heart is the perfect beer to grab and sit beside a fire.

We recommend opening one of these up the next time snow falls.
