President Donald Trump took aim at his attorney general Wednesday for not pursuing investigations of his predecessors and Democrats.

Trump has long held ire towards Sessions for recusing himself from the Department of Justice investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Trump believes Session’s recusal set the stage for deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein’s appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.

The President spent much of the summer attacking Sessions for failure to open investigations into former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Trump has also previously said he would not have hired Sessions for Attorney General if he knew he would recuse himself from the Russia investigation. “Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” he declared to The New York Times in December.
