White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called sanctuary cities a “dangerous thing” on Tuesday and believes there’s great risk in abandoning the rule of law to satisfy a political agenda.

“We couldn’t agree anymore that sanctuary cities are a dangerous thing,” Sanders said on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday. “The president has been very outspoken about this. As has the attorney general. When cities start picking and choosing laws that they want, that is a dangerous thing. And it’s certainly outside of the jurisdiction of the way that our government was set up.”

“It is outrageous to think that certain cities, and even states now, are putting law enforcement officials at risk and in danger because they’re refusing to follow the law,” she continued. “I just, it is beyond me how any city can just decide that there are laws they don’t want to follow.”

Sanders said there is a double standard, adding that if conservatives had chosen which laws they wanted to follow and which ones they wanted to ignore, liberals would have melted down.

“If conservatives did this, during the Obama administration, people would have gone absolutely crazy. Yet they are celebrated in the Democrat party for not following the law,” Sanders concluded. “I think it sets a terrible standard and I think it’s a really dangerous thing to teach young people and kids, that if you don’t like something you can just ignore it and do whatever you want.”
