Trump confirmed in a tweet on Wednesday that CIA chief Mike Pompeo met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un just a few weeks ago. The meeting was reportedly laying the groundwork for a face-to-face meeting between Trump and Jong Un. (RELATED: Trump Confirms CIA Director Made Secret Trip To North Korea To Meet Kim Jong Un)

The CNN panel hopefully pondered if Trump’s visit could lead to peace talks between the countries.

“It would be a significant game changer for the world,” CNN political analyst John Avlon argued. “There’s the danger that Donald Trump gets rolled but already [Japanese president] Abe over the last couple of days has given Trump credit for changing the calculus in the region.”

“This is something where Trump, his toughness, could lead to real breakthroughs and that would be a signature move,” Avlon added.

“Arguably, it could be peace prize kind of stuff,” anchor Chris Cuomo agreed. “I just think it’s such an interesting curveball into the political calculus.”

“You’re floating the Donald Trump peace prize — I was waiting for you to do that!” Avlon responded.

David Sanger, a political and national security analyst, agreed there could be a breakthrough with North Korea but warned the other panelists against getting their hopes up too much.
