CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta claimed that his words were “twisted” by news outlets after he said some Americans “don’t have all their faculties.”
In an interview with Variety that was released on Tuesday, Acosta said that “people around the country don’t know it’s an act” when Trump refers to some media outlets and figures as “fake news. “(RELATED: Acosta: Americans ‘Don’t Have All Their Faculties’)
“They’re not in on the act and they take what he says very seriously…they don’t have all their faculties and in some cases their elevator might not hit all floors,” Acosta asserted. “My concern is that a journalist is going to be hurt one of these days.”
After being blasted by places like Fox News, Acosta claimed that his comments were “twisted” and that he was talking about “people who threaten journalists.”
“Regarding my interview with Variety, my comments have been twisted by some outlets,” he said. “As you can plainly see, I’m not referring to Trump supporters. I am talking about people who threaten journalists.”
