New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez doesn’t believe that men should decide abortion policy, unless that man is New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the congresswoman said at a Monday press conference.
“A room of men have no business undermining a woman’s unconditional right to choose,” Velazquez said, but, “that room of men is not referring to our governor.”

Velazquez also said “women’s rights are under assault by the federal government and federal judiciary.”
Cuomo later spoke at the Monday press conference, saying that “God told me I was a feminist when he gave me three daughters … and I am proud that New York is a state of feminists.”
The “need” for feminism is more pressing in the eyes of Democratic men than Republican women. A PerryUndem report in January 2017 found that more Republican women than Democratic men believed that “equality for women has been achieved.” (RELATED: Dem Candidates Bringing In Record-Breaking Donations)
That same poll found that only 34 percent of female Trump voters thought the country would “be better off if we had more women in political office,” while 63 percent of Democratic men believed it would be better off with more women in office.
