CNN anchor Jake Tapper is many things: cartoonist, host of “The Lead” and author of “The Hellfire Club” that he can’t stop self-promoting.
So why does he feel the need to make himself an apologist to Cindy and Meghan McCain on behalf of who, President Trump? Himself?
It’s like … “Look at me. I’m a nice guy with ethics and morals.”
Honestly, no one gives a shit.
It’s clawing and utterly annoying to the point of inducing disgust in a reader’s gut.
@cindymccain @MeghanMcCain I am so sorry you continue to have to suffer these indignities

Now McCain’s longtime advisor Mark Salter calling Trump an “asshole” is totally fitting.
For those asking did I expect Trump to be an asshole today. No more than I expected it to be Monday.

There’s also this, which is slightly less irritating because it’s actual news. But with Tapper’s other tweets it becomes a lesson in how not to be a journalist.
“At Fort Drum just now, notes @betsy_klein, POTUS thanked multiple members of Congress involved in passage of the ‘John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019’ — but not John McCain,” he wrote on Twitter.
Trump no doubt deserves intense ridicule over his treatment of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who has brain cancer. As everyone remembers, Trump behaved like a complete moron in 2015 when he said, “I like people who weren’t captured.”
McCain was a POW in North Vietnam for five and half years.
