Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader and Ottawa Senators winger Brady Tkachuk weren’t the biggest fans of each other Thursday night.
The two got into a scrap behind the net, and I think it’s safe to say Tkachuk came out on top of this one. Abdelkader is known for his fight, but just couldn’t get the job done against the young forward for Ottawa.
Tkachuk made quick work of him as he took Abdelkader down to the ice. Watch the impressive fight below.

Look, I’m a big Abdelkader fan. I think he’s one of the most under-appreciated guys in the entire league. The man is just a workhorse, and in my mind, he doesn’t get nearly enough respect for what he does.

However, I don’t even think I’ve got enough spin zone in me to make it look like he came out on top in this fight. He just simply didn’t. (RELATED: What NHL Star Does After Getting His Tooth Knocked Out Proves The Toughness Of Hockey Players)
You also just have to love how chill both of them were once the fight was over. True professionals. They traded punches, went to the ice, got separated and it’s time to move on. Regardless of how you feel about fighting in the NHL (it’s awesome), you just have to love how nobody cares once it’s done.
And don’t worry too much. Abdelkader’s boxing record won’t be bad for long. I have no doubt he’ll bounce back.
