A woman in Florida reportedly named Tupac Amaru Shakur appeared before a Miami-Dade judge Wednesday after her arrest for allegedly beating an elderly man with a baseball bat.
Shakur (not the rapper) was accused of beating an elderly man with a baseball bat while he sat outside Hialeah Hospital around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, WPLG reported. Shakur, 34, apparently shares the exact same name as the California rapper who died six days after he was shot on Sept. 7, 1996, the outlet noted.
The elderly man sustained multiple injuries, including on the right side of his face, his forearm, his upper lip, his right hand and his right leg, police wrote in the affidavit, according to WPLG. The man was eventually able to pull the bat away from Shakur and run into the hospital, the report continued.

Shakur then ran after the man into the medical facility and flipped what allegedly happened, claiming the victim had been beating her with the bat, WPLG continued. The victim said he recognized the woman, allegedly a homeless person who sleeps near the hospital, from a number of “incidents” at Hialeah Hospital, WPLG reported.
After reviewing CCTV footage, local law enforcement found Shakur and placed her under arrest, the outlet continued. She was sent to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and faces a charge of aggravated battery on an individual aged 65 or older, which is a first-degree felony in the state, WPLG noted. The alleged encounter between the female Shakur and the elderly man took place on the 26th anniversary of the rapper’s assassination. The rapper would have turned 51 in 2022. There are no reports that either individual is related, WPLG reported.
