Florida authorities arrested a man who allegedly hit his wife with a Christmas tree after she asked him to help her make dinner.
Police arrested 52-year-old Richard Atchison in Fruitland Park Monday and charged him with domestic battery, according to an arrest affidavit, obtained by Fox 35 Orlando. He got into an argument with his wife when she asked him to help make dinner, and the tension escalated when she accidentally splashed him with water by slamming a spoon in the sink.
The suspect “lost his temper,” packed his belongings and stormed out to his vehicle, the outlet reported. The report said that “he had been drinking” while outside of his home.
He later returned home after drinking alcoholic beverages and demanded that his wife leave, the outlet reported. As the wife attempted to leave, her husband allegedly shoved her, picked up the Christmas tree from the corner of their living room and threw it at her, then blocked the front door to prevent her from exiting the residence.
