REPORT: 72-Year-Old Man Found Dead Under 120-Foot Cypress Tree

A California man was found dead beneath a fallen 120-foot cypress tree on Saturday.

The man, 72, was discovered under a fallen tree at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz, California, around 1:30 pm by a passerby, who called 911, according to a post on Instagram by the Santa Cruz Police.

State Parks First Responders, Santa Cruz Police, Santa Cruz Fire, and AMR arrived to the scene and provided patient care, according to the post.

“The victim, a 72-year-old Santa Cruz City resident was pronounced deceased on scene. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family and loved ones,” the Santa Cruz Police wrote in their post.

It is currently unclear how the tree fell and how the man became trapped. The incident is currently under investigation, according to KSBW.
