Authorities have captured a suspect related to at least one of several shootings at New Mexico elected officials’ homes and offices, the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) revealed Monday.

Shots were fired at or near six New Mexico Democratic leaders’ homes or offices in multiple incidents beginning in early December, including incoming Speaker of the New Mexico House Javier Martinez’s home, State Sen. Linda Lopez’s Albuquerque residence and State Sen. Moe Maestas’ law office, though no one has been injured, according to Reuters. A suspect related to such incidents was brought into custody on unrelated charges, and police have obtained a firearm linked to one of the shootings, Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina said during a Monday press conference. “We’re trying to still link and see which cases are related and which cases are not related,” Medina explained, noting that their request to seal the case’s paperwork was granted. He said they had some ideas as to a possible motive but it was unknown whether there was currently a threat to any of the legislators.

Police reported eight rounds were fired in the direction of Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa’s southeast Albuquerque home on Dec. 4, while shootings occurred at New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez’s former campaign office and former County Commissioner Debbie O’Malley’s home the next week, according to NBC News.

O’Malley claimed she and her husband heard noises at the front of her house in the morning and discovered bullet divots in its outside wall, the Albuquerque Journal reported.

“It’s scattered but it was all aimed to the front porch, where the front door is,” O’Malley said.

The APD did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
