Famous actor Idris Elba revealed he came close to losing his life after stepping in to be a good Samaritan.

The famous actor, known for his roles in “The Wire,” and “Luther,” said he was threatened at gunpoint when a situation took a turn for the worst, Daily Mail reported Wednesday. “I nearly lost my fucking life, after attempting to stop a man threatening his girlfriend outside a club,” he said.

Elba described feeling terrified by the encounter, adding that the situation could have easily escalated even further and ended very differently.

“A guy (was) whaling on his missus, screaming in her face, ‘I’ll fucking kill you, and so on,” Elba said.

He continued to describe how the next few moments unfolded. “I come round and I go ‘Look how beautiful she is. Why would you talk to this beautiful princess like that?'”

“He pulled out a gun, stuck it right in my face, and goes, ‘You talking about my girl?'” Elba said.

The famous actor recalled how the other man apparently misinterpreted what he’d said. “He thought I was trying to hit on her,” Elba said. “I remember thinking, ‘Don’t play negotiations like that… Consequences, man.'”
