Episode five of “Special Ops: Lioness” dropped Sunday, and boy was it political without going anywhere near politics.

While there was a lot of interpersonal character development in the fifth episode of Taylor Sheridan’s hit new series “Special Ops: Lioness,” the real story was much deeper, darker and more terrifying than most Americans realize — and it’s a very real threat.

A large part of the season was pivoted away from the actual Lioness program into the type of operations that occur on U.S. soil without our knowledge. Sheridan’s subplot (episode five’s main plot) revolves around a group of terrorists getting into the U.S. through our open southern border with Mexico.

While millions of men, women, and children are being sold into sexual slavery or poisoned through the proliferation of China’s fentanyl sales via the border, terrorists are also finding safe passage into America with the help of cartels. And those terrorists want to destroy America.

The Lioness operation crew were therefore tasked with putting a stop to the terrorist’s planned attack and covering it up as a gas leak or other type of natural disaster. (RELATED: ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Already Tipped For Second Season, Possible Franchise With Paramount+)

But here’s the thing — it’s not the operation, the drama, or the chaos of it all that’s scary — it’s the fact that Sheridan is using a very real crisis to shed light on the deadly threats facing America so long as we leave our borders wide open.

Sheridan, who lives in Texas, is likely no stranger to the ongoing turmoil perpetuated through Biden’s inaction on the open border. (RELATED: REVIEW: ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Is A Heart-Pounding Adrenaline Rush From Start To Finish)

But Sheridan had a choice: write something that could curry favor with mainstream Hollywood (who hate him), or tell the truth about a country collapsing from the outside-in. Sheridan used his God-given gift for writing to tell the truth, and managed to get half of Hollywood’s heavy hitters to join him.

If that doesn’t make him the most important person in entertainment right now, I don’t know what does. But I just wish that more celebrities would take a stand against the dangers America’s and other world leaders are trying to normalize around us.
