Officers from the Burbank Police Department arrested famous comedian Jeff Dye on Oct. 8 in relation to a single traffic collision, People reports.

Police charged Dye with fleeing the scene of a traffic collision and driving under the influence, according to People. Officers responded to calls of a single-vehicle collision in the area of Pass Avenue and Alameda Avenue at roughly 9:30 a.m., Burbank Police public information officer Sgt. Stephen Turner told the outlet.

“Witnesses relayed the driver of a white Tesla collided with a tree and the driver fled on foot,” Turner said.

Police searched for the driver of the vehicle after assessing the scene.

“Based on witness description, the driver was located just a few blocks east of the scene and detained pending [an] investigation,” Turner told the outlet.

Witnesses provided statements, as did Dye, after which time the comedian was arrested and charged, People reported. The comedian and television personality, who currently hosts the game show “Who the BLEEP Is That?” was booked in the Burbank Jail.

“No other vehicles were involved, and nobody was injured,” according to Turner.

The 40-year-old star was reportedly released without bail at 1:04 p.m.

Those close to Dye are “concerned for him and hope he gets the help he needs,” an unnamed source told the outlet.
