The Southwark Coroners Court revealed Tuesday that singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor died of natural causes, according to the Daily Mail.
The legendary Irish singer passed away at the age of 56 in July 2023. Police found the star “unresponsive” in her flat in Herne Hill, southeast London, and were unable to revive the star.
“This is to confirm that Ms O’Connor died of natural causes,” a spokesman for Southwark Coroners Court told MailOnline. “The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.”
O’Connor entertained the masses with her unique voice and powerful songs and was most famous for her rendition of “Nothing Compares To You,” which was later played in her honor, during her own funeral service.
The famous singer’s death was not considered to be suspicious at the time and officials spoke out shortly after her passing to state they expected natural causes to have been the cause.
The star’s hit single, “Nothing Compares 2 U,” took the number one spot in the world and became a staple of pop culture history. O’Connor released a total of 10 studio albums over the course of her career and was beloved in her hometown, as well as across the globe.
