The trailer for what appears to be a hilarious new comedy “Population 11” dropped Tuesday, and it could be the best bizarre comedy series to start the year.

Starring “Superstore” actor Ben Feldman, the series is based on a true story set in a remote Australian town, according to Deadline. Feldman’s character, Andy Pruden, an Ohio banker, travels to the town to find his estranged father, Hugo. But to his dismay, Hugo has mysteriously disappeared. And with only 11 other people living in the town, everyone is a suspect.

While I love a good dark comedy, I love listening to Americans deal with Australians a lot more. “Population 11” combines all of this and more, and the trailer is hilarious.

Thus far, it’s unclear when the series will be released in the U.S. But the series was produced in conjunction with Lionsgate, a streaming platform called Stan and members of Jungle Entertainment. “Population 11” also boasts the same director as hit series like “Hacks” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” (RELATED: Sofia Vergara Is Totally Addictive In ‘Griselda,’ The Best Crime Show Since ‘Narcos’)

“Following the success of the Stan Original Series Prosper, Stan’s partnership with the prestigious Hollywood studio Lionsgate delivers yet another epic series as part of our ongoing strategy to deliver fresh and exceptional Originals for Australian and global audiences,” Stan CCO Cailah Scobie told Deadline, noting how she can’t wait to share the series.

Let’s hope they share it with us in the U.S. soon!
